Gabbro

The village of Gabbro is part of the town of Rosignano and its name is derived from Latin "glabrum", indicating the aridity of the place composed for the most part by gabbro stones. The history of the country has been subjected to periods of repopulation of the area, as during the first half of 1500, when Cosimo I de 'Medici to make life easier for residents of the village eliminated the fees for twenty years. In the second half of 1800 found in some burial Gabbro Etruscan-Romany, giving way to confirm the hypothesis of the origin of the first core. The site, located on a hill overlooking the entire valley, made up of forests, is 10 km from the sea and about 13 from the provincial capital.
